Axiro Semiconductor Invests in ThinSiC to Advance Silicon Carbide Tech
Axiro Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited, has announced a major strategic investment in ThinSiC Inc. This Silicon Valley-based semiconductor firm specializes in developing cutting-edge silicon carbide (SiC) power devices designed to offer low-cost solutions for power electronics.
Axiro has taken the role of Lead Investor in ThinSiC’s latest funding round. Along with the financial commitment, the two companies have established a long-term commercial partnership focused on supporting ThinSiC’s technology development and market introduction. This collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of ThinSiC’s silicon carbide power devices, which are seen as a key technology for next-generation power applications.
Silicon carbide is gaining traction as a promising alternative to traditional silicon in power electronics, especially for sectors like rail traction, industrial motor drives, and electrical grid infrastructure. Axiro’s investment aligns with its broader strategy to expand its semiconductor portfolio beyond its core strengths in radio frequency (RF), millimeter wave (mmWave), and advanced connectivity technologies. By adding power electronics based on SiC to its offerings, Axiro is positioning itself to tap into emerging market needs where efficiency and performance are critical.
Through its parent company CG Power and Industrial Solutions, Axiro benefits from extensive reach within India’s power transmission and industrial infrastructure markets. This connection offers ThinSiC a valuable commercial channel to introduce and scale its silicon carbide technology within India and potentially other markets. The partnership is expected to facilitate the integration of ThinSiC’s devices into applications that demand higher voltage and power efficiency.
Dr. Naveen Yanduru, CEO of Axiro Semiconductor, emphasized the importance of silicon carbide for the future of power electronics. He stated, “This investment reflects our conviction that silicon carbide will be central to the next generation of power electronics — and that cost has been the single biggest barrier to its broader adoption.” He further noted that Axiro is expanding its capabilities to include power semiconductors, leveraging the CG Power group’s established industrial presence across India.
Dr. Yanduru highlighted ThinSiC’s role in overcoming cost and scalability challenges that have limited the deployment of high-voltage SiC devices. “ThinSiC’s technology addresses exactly the cost and scalability challenges that have held high voltage SiC back,” he added, signaling confidence in the startup’s innovations.
On the other side, ThinSiC’s founder and CEO, TS Ravi, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Axiro. He remarked, “We are excited to have Axiro as an investor and partner. Their semiconductor expertise, their strategic vision for power, and their access to one of India’s leading industrial groups would help us accelerate the commercialization of our advanced SiC devices.”
This investment highlights a growing interest in silicon carbide technology within the power electronics sector. SiC devices offer superior performance in terms of switching speed, thermal conductivity, and efficiency compared to traditional silicon-based components. These advantages make SiC highly suitable for demanding applications such as electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and industrial automation.
As the global semiconductor industry continues to evolve, companies like Axiro and ThinSiC are focusing on innovations that can reduce costs and improve scalability, addressing two major obstacles that have slowed the adoption of SiC technology. Their collaboration is expected to contribute to wider availability and increased use of efficient power devices, aligning with global trends toward electrification and sustainable energy solutions.
With the backing of CG Power’s infrastructure and Axiro’s semiconductor expertise, ThinSiC is well placed to make its mark in India’s expanding power electronics market. The strategic partnership is a promising development for stakeholders interested in the future of high-performance power semiconductors.
The announcement was made public on October 29, 2026, marking a significant step forward for both companies as they work toward commercializing silicon carbide technology on a larger scale.
