Top Large Cap Stocks Offering Highest Dividend Yields in FY26

Investors often seek reliable income streams through dividends while maintaining exposure to established companies. For the financial year 2025-26, several major large cap stocks have emerged as attractive options due to their notable dividend yields. Coal India, Wipro, ITC, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) stand out in this regard, each offering yields exceeding 5 percent.

Among these, Coal India tops the list with a dividend yield close to 6.6 percent for FY26, signaling a strong return on investment through dividend payouts relative to its share price. This state-owned enterprise, which primarily operates in coal mining, has maintained a consistent dividend history. Since February 18, 2011, Coal India has declared approximately 35 dividends. Over the past year alone, the company has distributed dividends totaling nearly ₹26.50 per share.

On October 1, Coal India’s stock closed at ₹421.5 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), reflecting a slight dip of 0.67 percent for the day. Despite the minor price decline, its dividend yield remains robust, making it a favored choice for investors seeking steady income combined with exposure to the energy sector.

Wipro Limited, a major player in the information technology sector, also presents a compelling dividend yield of 6.3 percent for FY26. The company has a long track record of rewarding shareholders, with 38 dividend declarations since May 8, 2000. In the last year, Wipro paid ₹8 per equity share in dividends. On the same trading day, Wipro shares ended 0.69 percent higher at ₹159.50 on the BSE, reflecting positive investor sentiment.

ONGC, another public sector heavyweight in the oil and gas industry, offers a dividend yield of 5.7 percent for FY26. Its commitment to shareholder returns is evident from over 60 dividend distributions in the past 26 years. The company declared ₹13.25 per equity share in dividends over the last year. ONGC’s stock price on October 1 closed at ₹222 per share, down 1.07 percent on the day.

ITC Limited, a diversified conglomerate with significant presence in FMCG, hotels, and paperboards, maintains a dividend yield of 5.7 percent for FY26. ITC has declared dividends more than 30 times in the past 25 years, providing consistent returns to shareholders. The company’s dividend payout in the last year was ₹14.50 per equity share. On October 1, ITC shares closed at ₹257 on the BSE, marking a 2.56 percent decrease.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is also among the top dividend payers with a yield of 5.5 percent for FY26. This oil refining and marketing company has increased its dividend payouts compared to the previous year, reflecting strengthening financial performance.

Dividend yield is a crucial metric for income-focused investors. It is calculated by dividing the total annual dividends paid by a company by its current share price, offering insight into the return an investor can expect from dividends alone relative to the investment cost.

In the current market scenario, these five large cap companies provide opportunities for investors looking for stable dividend income combined with relatively low risk due to their established market positions. The energy sector companies Coal India, ONGC, and BPCL continue to deliver attractive yields, supported by their steady cash flows. Meanwhile, ITC and Wipro offer diversification into FMCG and IT sectors, respectively, with consistent dividend histories.

As dividend policies and market conditions evolve, monitoring these companies’ yields and financial health remains important for investors aiming to balance income and capital appreciation within their portfolios.
