Sumeet Bagadia Highlights 5 Stocks with Breakout Potential Amid Market Uncertainty
The Indian stock market has entered a phase of sideways to bearish movement, according to Sumeet Bagadia, Executive Director at Choice Broking. Despite robust domestic industrial output figures, key indices faced pressure as Brent crude oil prices neared $105 per barrel and the US 10-year Treasury yield hovered around 5.25 percent. These factors have been weighing on domestic risk assets, limiting investor enthusiasm.
Elevated crude prices threaten to exacerbate inflationary pressures in India, which in turn could impact the rupee. Meanwhile, higher yields on US government bonds make dollar-denominated assets more attractive to foreign investors. Unless crude prices and bond yields ease, foreign portfolio inflows into Indian markets may remain muted, challenging any sustained recovery attempts.
On the performance of the Nifty 50 index, Bagadia noted a close at 22,620.45, down 95 points or 0.42 percent. The index initially recovered from a weak opening to reach an intraday high of 22,809, but profit-taking in the latter half of the session pulled it down close to 22,595. Bagadia commented that the inability to hold higher levels has shifted the short-term market outlook toward a sideways-to-bearish stance. However, the index continues to hold above its weekly 200-day simple moving average (SMA), which offers some support.
Immediate support for the Nifty is identified in the 22,500 to 22,600 range. On the upside, resistance levels are seen at 22,800 and 23,000. Bagadia advised that long-term investors should watch the 22,500 to 22,600 support zone carefully, as history suggests that recoveries often occur after extended declines when strong support holds.
Turning to the Bank Nifty index, Bagadia observed a more positive short-term setup. The index closed above the previous day’s high, forming a bullish candle that suggests a shift towards a sideways-to-bullish bias. Support is now placed between 54,000 and 54,200, while resistance lies in the 54,900 to 55,000 zone. Maintaining levels above the support band could allow the ongoing rebound to gain momentum in coming sessions.
In terms of specific stock recommendations, Bagadia highlighted five stocks with breakout potential following Wednesday’s market close. These include:
- PVR INOX: Buy at ₹1,243 with a target of ₹1,370 and a stop loss at ₹1,180.
- JK Tyre: Buy at ₹347, target ₹380, stop loss ₹330.
- ICICI Lombard: Buy at ₹1,590, target ₹1,750, stop loss ₹1,510.
- Texmaco Rail: Buy at ₹131, target ₹145, stop loss ₹125.
- Mishra Dhatu: Buy at ₹437, target ₹480, stop loss ₹416.
These stocks were identified based on technical analysis and market trends, indicating potential for upward movement if current support levels hold.
The broader context for these recommendations is the current market environment where global factors such as crude oil prices and US bond yields are influencing investor sentiment. Indian markets have been navigating these headwinds while managing domestic economic data, making stock selection more critical for investors seeking short-term gains.
It is important for investors to consult certified financial advisors before making investment decisions, as market conditions remain fluid and subject to rapid change. The views expressed by Bagadia represent his analysis and should be considered alongside other expert opinions.
