FIIs and Mutual Funds Boost Stakes in 10 Stocks, Shares Rise Up to 40%

In the June 2026 quarter, both foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and mutual funds (MFs) have notably increased their investments in a select group of stocks within the Nifty 500 index. This combined institutional buying has coincided with significant price gains, with some shares appreciating by as much as 40% in less than three months following the quarter's end.

Institutional investors play a crucial role in shaping market trends. Their investments are usually supported by thorough research and market analysis. When both FIIs and MFs simultaneously raise their stakes in particular companies, it often signals strong confidence in those firms’ growth potential.

According to data compiled by ACE Equity and reported by ETMarkets, 94 stocks saw increased holdings from both FIIs and mutual funds in the June quarter compared to the previous quarter ending March 2026. Among these, eight stocks stood out for their remarkable share price appreciation ranging from 15% to 40% within roughly three months.

Welspun Living emerged as the top performer in this group, with its share price jumping 41% from Rs 159 in July 2026 to Rs 225 in the recent trading sessions. Institutional interest in the company rose modestly but steadily, with FII holdings increasing to 5.21% from 4.99% and mutual fund holdings climbing to 5.26% from 4.84% during the quarter.

Lenskart Solutions experienced a 32% rise in its stock price, moving from Rs 515 to Rs 680 in the same timeframe. This surge was accompanied by a sharp increase in foreign institutional investors’ stake, which nearly tripled from 4.26% to 12.76%. Mutual funds also raised their exposure, going from 6.43% to 12.20%, suggesting strong institutional backing.

Maharashtra Seamless recorded a 20% gain, with prices advancing from Rs 598 to Rs 715. While FII holdings saw a slight uptick from 9.59% to 9.72%, mutual funds increased their stake more noticeably from 2.56% to 3.09%. This pattern illustrates cautious but positive interest from both investor groups.

In the healthcare sector, Dr. Lal PathLabs posted a 19% increase in its share price, climbing from Rs 1,647 to Rs 1,952. The FII shareholding edged up marginally from 17.18% to 17.35%, while mutual funds also boosted their holdings from 18.62% to 18.79%, reflecting steady confidence in the company’s prospects.

Neuland Laboratories’ shares rose 18%, moving from Rs 18,630 to Rs 21,904. Institutional investors appeared more enthusiastic here, with FIIs increasing their stake to 21.08% from 20.46%, and mutual funds expanding theirs from 11.35% to 12.66% during the quarter.

Acme Solar Holdings, representing the renewable energy sector, saw a 16% price gain, rising from Rs 381 to Rs 442. FIIs raised their shareholding to 4.39% from 3.60%, while mutual funds substantially increased their exposure from 5.35% to 16.20%. This growth highlights growing institutional interest in clean energy businesses.

Lastly, Radico Khaitan’s stock climbed 15%, from Rs 3,946 to Rs 4,555. Both foreign and domestic institutional investors raised their stakes slightly, with FII holdings moving from 17.63% to 18.20%, and mutual funds from 21.33% to 22.05%.

The heightened activity from both FIIs and mutual funds in these stocks reflects a broader trend where institutional investors seek growth opportunities across diverse sectors such as infrastructure, technology-driven consumer services, healthcare, chemicals, and renewable energy. Their combined influence often guides market sentiment and sets benchmarks for other investors.

This wave of increased institutional participation not only supports stock prices but also indicates a positive outlook on the underlying businesses. As these companies continue to attract significant investment, market watchers will be keen to observe if this momentum sustains in the coming quarters amid changing economic conditions.
