Tata Elxsi Reports Q4 Profit Decline, Declares Rs 70 Dividend Per Share

Tata Elxsi, a prominent design and technology services firm, announced its financial results for the quarter ending March 31, 2024, revealing a decline in net profit both sequentially and compared to the previous year. Despite these setbacks, the company declared a significant dividend payout for shareholders, signaling confidence in its financial health.

The company reported a net profit of Rs 196.93 crore for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24. This represents a 4.6 percent drop from the Rs 206.4 crore earned in the October to December quarter of FY24. On an annual basis, the net profit fell by 2.32 percent compared to Rs 201.5 crore in the same quarter last year. Meanwhile, total revenue from operations for the quarter stood at Rs 905.9 crore, slightly below the Rs 914.23 crore recorded in Q3 FY24 but higher than Rs 837.91 crore in Q4 FY23.

On the full-year front, Tata Elxsi posted a profit after tax of Rs 792.2 crore for FY24, marking a 4.9 percent increase year-on-year. Revenue surged 13 percent during the same period to Rs 3,552.1 crore, reflecting the company’s steady growth despite challenging market conditions.

The Board of Directors recommended a dividend of Rs 70 per equity share, equivalent to a 700 percent payout on the face value of Rs 10 per share, subject to shareholders’ approval. The dividend payment is scheduled to be dispatched seven days after the 35th Annual General Meeting.

Manoj Raghavan, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Elxsi, expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance. He highlighted the firm’s resilience in revenues, margins, and customer acquisitions amid volatile macroeconomic conditions. Raghavan emphasized the company’s commitment to growth in the new financial year, driven by its design-led engineering strengths and expanding client base. He pointed to significant wins in software-defined vehicles (SDV), investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI, and a strong pipeline of deals as key factors supporting this outlook.

Analyzing sector-wise performance, the transportation segment delivered a notable 20.4 percent year-on-year increase in constant currency terms, buoyed by large contracts and sustained demand for software-defined vehicle solutions. The healthcare sector also grew by 7.6 percent, while media and communications saw a 2.6 percent rise in revenue compared to the previous year.

On the human resources front, Tata Elxsi expanded its workforce by adding 178 employees over the quarter, bringing the total headcount to 13,399 as of March 31, 2024. The attrition rate improved slightly to 12.4 percent from 12.9 percent in the preceding quarter, indicating better employee retention.

Shares of the Bengaluru-based company closed marginally lower by 0.57 percent at Rs 7,393.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on April 23, following the earnings announcement.

Tata Elxsi operates in a competitive technology services industry, offering design and engineering solutions across sectors such as automotive, healthcare, media, and communications. The company’s focus on emerging technologies like AI, cloud computing, and software-defined vehicles positions it well to capitalize on ongoing digital transformations globally. Its recent financial results and dividend declaration reflect a balanced approach to rewarding shareholders while investing in future growth areas.
