Best Western Unifies Over 4,000 Hotels Globally Under WorldHotels Brand
On Wednesday, BWH Hotels, a US-based hospitality company, revealed plans to merge its extensive global portfolio of more than 4,000 hotels across 100 countries under the WorldHotels master brand. This strategic consolidation aims to bring together 18 different brands, loyalty programs, and digital platforms into a single, cohesive identity.
While the move will unify the company’s offerings, individual hotels will maintain their existing names and unique brand characteristics. The primary objective is to enhance brand recognition, streamline guest access, and widen the company's reach in the competitive hospitality market.
The decision follows research that showed many travelers were only familiar with a limited segment of BWH’s diverse portfolio, which includes luxury, boutique, upscale, extended-stay, and economy accommodations. Larry Cuculic, president and CEO of WorldHotels, highlighted this point by stating, "We have a hotel for practically every type of trip, but many travellers know only part of our portfolio." This consolidation is designed to address this gap in consumer awareness.
In India, the group currently manages 34 hotels and has 26 additional properties under development. The global restructuring is expected to increase the visibility of these properties among international travelers and improve access to the group's broad distribution network.
Ranjan Bhattacharya, chairman of WorldHotels India and South Asia, commented on the transition, saying, "As India’s hospitality sector enters an exciting phase of growth, WorldHotels reflects our confidence in the country’s potential and our commitment to bringing global standards, wider international reach and distinctive hospitality experiences to the market, while preserving the individuality and local character that make Indian hospitality unique." His remarks underscore the company's dedication to balancing global integration with local cultural nuances.
Alongside the rebranding, the group plans to launch a new loyalty program, WorldHotels Rewards, set to begin on January 5 next year. This initiative will be complemented by a redesigned website and mobile app intended to provide a more user-friendly booking experience and enhanced engagement for guests.
The independent properties within the portfolio, spanning luxury and upscale segments, will be organized under the WorldHotels Collection. This collection includes six distinct brands: WorldHotels Luxury, WorldHotels Elite, WorldHotels Distinctive, WorldHotels Crafted, WorldHotels Backdrop, and WorldHotels Residences. Each brand is tailored to different traveler preferences and hotel styles, offering a range of options within the unified framework.
WorldHotels has expressed intentions to further expand its footprint in India, acknowledging the country’s fast-growing hospitality market. With increasing domestic and international travel demand, the company sees significant opportunities to introduce its global standards and unique hospitality experiences to more Indian destinations.
This consolidation reflects broader trends in the hospitality industry, where companies seek to simplify their brand architecture to improve customer recognition and loyalty. By uniting multiple brands under one umbrella while allowing individual properties to maintain their distinctiveness, BWH Hotels aims to provide clarity and choice for travelers worldwide.
