Reliance Industries Posts 11% Rise in March 2024 Net Sales to Rs 236,533 Cr
Reliance Industries Limited, one of India's largest conglomerates, announced its consolidated financial results for the quarter ending March 2024, revealing notable growth in net sales but a minor decline in net profit compared to the same period last year.
The company recorded consolidated net sales of Rs 236,533 crore for March 2024, marking an 11.08 percent increase from Rs 212,945 crore reported in March 2023. This rise reflects ongoing strength in Reliance's diverse business segments, including refining, petrochemicals, retail, and digital services.
Despite the revenue growth, Reliance's quarterly net profit decreased slightly by 1.8 percent to Rs 18,951 crore from Rs 19,299 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The earnings per share (EPS) also edged down from Rs 28.52 to Rs 28.01 over the same period.
Meanwhile, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) showed a healthy increase of 13.76 percent, reaching Rs 47,050 crore compared to Rs 41,358 crore in March 2023. This improvement indicates better operational performance and cost management across Reliance's core businesses.
Breaking down the expenditure, raw material consumption stood at Rs 103,968 crore, slightly lower than the Rs 104,031 crore in March 2023 but higher than the previous quarter's Rs 98,949 crore. Purchase of traded goods rose to Rs 42,825 crore from Rs 37,778 crore a year ago, while employee costs and depreciation expenses also increased moderately to Rs 6,818 crore and Rs 13,569 crore respectively.
Other expenses climbed to Rs 33,735 crore, contributing to overall operational costs but still within manageable levels. Interest expenses remained relatively stable at Rs 5,761 crore.
Reliance's total income from operations for the quarter was Rs 236,533 crore, up from Rs 212,945 crore in the same quarter last year, confirming steady business expansion. Other income also increased to Rs 4,534 crore, supporting profitability despite the slight dip in net profit.
On the stock market front, Reliance shares closed at Rs 2,959.70 on the National Stock Exchange on April 22, 2024. The stock has delivered robust returns to investors, providing approximately 30.78 percent gain over the last six months and 25.52 percent over the past year.
The company’s equity share capital stood unchanged at Rs 6,766 crore. Minority interest and share of profit from associates were factored into the consolidated net profit, which reflects the comprehensive performance of Reliance Industries including its subsidiaries.
Reliance Industries operates in sectors that are vital to the Indian economy, including energy, telecommunications, and retail. The company has consistently been a key player in shaping industry trends and driving innovation in these areas. The reported figures highlight Reliance’s continued ability to grow revenue while navigating market challenges.
As India’s economy progresses and demand for energy and digital services grows, Reliance’s integrated business model positions it well for future opportunities. Investors and market analysts will watch closely how the company manages profitability and cost pressures amid fluctuating global commodity prices and competitive domestic markets.
In summary, Reliance Industries’ March 2024 quarterly results demonstrate a strong increase in sales and EBITDA, with a slight decline in net profit. The company remains a dominant force in multiple sectors and continues to deliver value for its shareholders through steady operational performance and strategic growth initiatives.
