Several major Indian companies released their financial results for the second quarter ending September 30, 2026, reflecting a mixed performance across sectors. Key players such as Marico and Petronet LNG demonstrated considerable profit increases, while firms like Escorts Kubota and UPL experienced profit declines. Investors and market watchers closely followed these earnings announcements amid broader economic shifts impacting the corporate landscape.

Petronet LNG's Robust Profit Growth

Petronet LNG posted a strong standalone net profit of Rs 1,235.40 crore for Q2 FY27, marking a 53.3% rise from Rs 805.75 crore recorded in the same quarter last year. The significant jump in earnings underscores the company's improved operational efficiency and favorable market conditions. Additionally, the board declared an interim dividend of Rs 7 per share, signaling confidence in future performance and returning value to shareholders.

Marico's Impressive Earnings Surge

Marico Ltd reported a substantial increase in standalone net profit, which soared by nearly 72% year-on-year to Rs 683 crore in Q2 FY27, up from Rs 398 crore during the corresponding period in FY26. The company attributed this growth to easing copra prices that helped expand margins, strategic price reductions that boosted Parachute coconut oil volumes, and strong contributions from its foods and premium personal care segments. Notably, Marico's business in Vietnam displayed robust growth, helping offset weaker demand in Bangladesh. The consolidated net profit also rose 31% to Rs 550 crore, supported by a 13% increase in revenue.

Escorts Kubota Faces Profit Pressure

Conversely, Escorts Kubota's standalone profit after tax declined by 20%, dropping to Rs 255.04 crore in Q2 FY27. The tractor manufacturer's earnings took a hit due to rising input costs and an unfavorable product mix that squeezed margins in the tractor division. Despite these challenges, the company saw strong sales growth in its construction equipment segment, though it was insufficient to fully offset margin pressures.

Mixed Performances Among Other Companies

UPL and other firms also reported subdued earnings, with UPL's profit after tax falling during the quarter. On a positive note, digital payments firm MobiKwik posted a profit of Rs 15 crore in Q2 FY27, reflecting its steady business momentum. Devyani International narrowed its losses, demonstrating progress in controlling costs and improving operational efficiency in its food service businesses.

Granules India recorded a 39% increase in net profit to Rs 182 crore, aided by a 20% rise in revenues to Rs 1,560 crore. The company noted that a constructive audit by the US Food and Drug Administration supported its performance. ESDS Software Solutions also reported a 41% growth in net profit to Rs 31.1 crore, fueled by strong demand for digital infrastructure services, with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) driving nearly half of its revenue.

Other Notable Results and Market Impact

Mindspace Business Parks REIT saw its net operating income climb 32% to Rs 836 crore, declaring a distribution of Rs 442 crore for unitholders. PTC India, in contrast, reported a 28% decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 159 crore, largely due to higher expenses despite revenue growth. Zen Technologies delivered record quarterly revenue of Rs 345.13 crore, nearly doubling the previous year's figure, which helped push its stock price up by over 8%.

Wonderla Holidays achieved its best-ever Q2 results with income growing 42% to Rs 126 crore and EBITDA nearly doubling to Rs 30.11 crore. This performance was supported by growth across existing parks and contributions from newer locations in Chennai and Bengaluru.

Markets Close on a Positive Note

On the day of these earnings announcements, the Sensex closed 1.66% higher at 75,692.78 points, while the Nifty 50 gained 1.68% to end at 23,440.80, reflecting investor optimism amid mixed corporate results.

Context and Sector Trends

These quarterly results come at a time when Indian companies are navigating inflationary pressures, fluctuating commodity prices, and evolving consumer demand patterns. Firms with diversified portfolios and strong cost management, like Marico and Petronet LNG, have managed to capitalize on these conditions, while others in sectors facing margin pressures, such as agriculture equipment and chemicals, have struggled. The varied outcomes highlight the importance of strategic agility and market positioning in the current economic climate.
