MobiKwik Targets 50% Revenue from Lending, Eyes ₹2,000 Crore Quarterly Disbursements

MobiKwik, a leading fintech company, aims to significantly expand its lending business, targeting it to contribute half of its total revenue. Currently, lending accounts for around 25 to 30 percent of the company’s income, according to Bipin Preet Singh, co-founder, managing director, and CEO of MobiKwik.

Speaking to Business Standard, Singh outlined the company’s growth ambitions for its lending segment, forecasting quarterly disbursements of between ₹1,500 crore and ₹2,000 crore over the next six to eight quarters. This comes after the company reported disbursements of ₹1,082.6 crore in the quarter ending September (Q2FY27), marking a 34 percent increase from ₹807.1 crore recorded in the same quarter the previous fiscal year.

"We anticipate that lending should grow to represent at least 50 percent of our top-line revenue," Singh said. He added that maintaining the current take rate in the lending business would substantially bolster the company’s profitability, given the projected scale of disbursements.

MobiKwik’s recent financial results reflect this positive momentum. The company posted a consolidated net profit of ₹11.83 crore in Q2FY27, reversing a net loss of ₹28.62 crore in Q2FY26. Quarter-on-quarter, net profit increased by 55.4 percent from ₹7.62 crore in Q1FY27.

Operational revenue rose 9.4 percent year-on-year to ₹295.70 crore from ₹270.21 crore in the same quarter a year earlier, while sequential growth was 5.1 percent from ₹281.48 crore in Q1FY27. Total income for the quarter reached ₹302.76 crore, up 8.4 percent year-on-year.

Breaking down revenue streams, MobiKwik earned ₹2,087.9 crore from payment services and ₹869.1 crore from financial services during Q2FY27. Expense management also showed improvement, with total expenses decreasing by 2.0 percent year-on-year to ₹280.08 crore from ₹285.70 crore in Q2FY26. However, expenses rose 2.5 percent quarter-on-quarter from ₹273.38 crore in the prior quarter.

Significant cost reductions were seen in payment processing fees, which fell 10.8 percent to ₹119.47 crore. Lending operational expenses sharply declined from ₹12.78 crore to just ₹1.52 crore year-on-year. On the other hand, employee benefit costs increased by 59 percent, reaching ₹56.19 crore, reflecting investment in talent and operations.

As of the latest quarter, MobiKwik has partnered with 11 lending institutions, expanding its financial services ecosystem. The company also secured a crucial regulatory milestone with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) granting it a non-banking financial company (NBFC) license in April, enabling it to broaden its lending capabilities further.

Following these developments, MobiKwik’s shares closed 5.6 percent higher at ₹225.7 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday.

MobiKwik’s user base remains substantial, with 196.3 million registered users and 5.1 million registered merchants as of Q2FY27. The company’s push into lending aligns with broader trends in the fintech sector, where digital lenders are increasingly gaining ground by offering accessible credit solutions to consumers and small businesses.

The company’s strategy to ramp up lending revenue while managing expenses carefully positions it to capitalize on the growing demand for digital financial services in India. With regulatory approval as an NBFC, MobiKwik is poised to enhance its lending portfolio, which could translate into stronger revenue streams and improved profitability in upcoming quarters.
