Granules India Reports 39% Rise in Q2 Net Profit to ₹182 Crore
Granules India, a Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical manufacturer, announced a significant boost in its financial performance for the second quarter ending September 30, 2026. The company reported a 39 percent increase in net profit, reaching ₹182 crore compared to ₹130 crore in the same quarter the previous year.
This growth was supported by a 20 percent rise in total revenue, which climbed to ₹1,560 crore from ₹1,297 crore during the corresponding period in the prior fiscal year. The strong revenue performance reflects the company's expanded market presence and effective operational execution despite challenging cost conditions.
Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman and Managing Director of Granules India, highlighted the resilience of the company amid elevated input and logistics costs. These cost pressures stem partly from geopolitical tensions in West Asia, which have increased expenses for raw materials and transportation. Despite these headwinds, Granules India managed to achieve an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) of ₹338 crore for the quarter.
Chigurupati noted, "Our quarterly revenue surpassed ₹1,500 crore in Q2 FY27, with EBITDA at ₹338 crore despite higher input and logistics costs resulting from the situation in West Asia. We anticipate that cost pressures will continue and are actively collaborating with our customers to navigate these challenges, though adjustments will take some time to reflect in pricing." This approach suggests a strategic balance between maintaining customer relationships and managing profitability under inflationary pressures.
In addition to financial results, the company provided an update on regulatory compliance. Granules India recently completed a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspection at its Gagillapur manufacturing site. According to the company, the audit progressed positively, and the observations raised were deemed manageable through planned corrective and preventive measures.
"The inspection went constructively, and the observations are issues we believe can be fully resolved through our responses and corrective actions," Chigurupati explained. "We will continue to maintain transparent engagement with the FDA to ensure compliance and uphold the quality standards expected of our products." This ongoing interaction with regulatory authorities is critical for Granules India as it strengthens its footprint in the global pharmaceutical market.
Granules India operates in the pharmaceutical sector, primarily focusing on the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and finished dosage forms. The company has steadily expanded its product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities, catering to markets in the United States, Europe, and other regions.
The pharmaceutical industry faces constant challenges, including regulatory scrutiny, price pressures, and supply chain disruptions. Granules India's ability to report robust growth amid such conditions highlights its operational efficiency and strategic focus. The ongoing collaboration with customers to manage cost increases reflects a pragmatic approach to sustaining business health without abrupt market shocks.
Looking ahead, Granules India's performance will remain under close watch by investors and industry analysts. Factors such as global geopolitical developments, raw material supply dynamics, and regulatory outcomes will influence the company's trajectory in coming quarters. The management's emphasis on transparency and proactive problem-solving positions Granules India well to navigate these uncertainties.
Granules India’s quarterly results were published on November 2, 2026, contributing to the broader narrative of Indian pharmaceutical companies advancing their global competitiveness through steady financial growth and regulatory diligence.
