Westlife Foodworld Shares Jump 20% After Strong Q2 Revenue and Growth
Shares of Westlife Foodworld climbed sharply by 20 percent to ₹638 on the BSE during intraday trading on Friday. This surge followed the company’s announcement of one of its most robust quarterly performances in recent years, signaling renewed investor confidence in the restaurant operator’s growth trajectory.
The firm, which manages McDonald's outlets across West and South India through its fully owned subsidiary Hardcastle Restaurants Private Limited, reported a 16 percent year-on-year increase in revenue from operations for the quarter ending September 2026 (Q2 FY27), reaching ₹747 crore. The quarter also saw an acceleration in Same Store Sales Growth (SSSG), which rose to 10.1 percent, fueled by a significant uptick in guest visits.
Westlife Foodworld’s stock rebounded strongly, recovering 24 percent from its intraday low of ₹514.75 and surpassing its previous peak of ₹614.95 recorded on October 12, 2026. By 2:28 PM on Friday, the share price stood 15 percent higher at ₹614, contrasting with a 0.40 percent decline in the broader BSE Sensex index. Trading volume was notably high, with over 7 million shares exchanging hands across the NSE and BSE platforms combined.
The company characterized this quarter as one of its strongest performances in recent memory. Growth was well-rounded, spreading across various sales channels and geographic regions. This was supported by the continued appeal of its value-focused menu, ongoing innovation in offerings, and a strategic emphasis on omnichannel convenience—combining dine-in, takeaway, and delivery services.
On-premise dining remained a key contributor, accounting for 59 percent of total system sales, reflecting sustained consumer interest in eating at McDonald's locations. Meanwhile, the McDelivery service retained solid momentum, underscoring a growing consumer preference for digital ordering and contactless convenience.
Cost discipline and operational efficiency further bolstered profitability. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 29 percent year-on-year to ₹98.1 crore for the quarter, with the EBITDA margin expanding to 13.1 percent. This improvement highlights the company’s ability to balance growth with careful expense management.
During the quarter, Westlife Foodworld expanded its network by adding 11 new restaurants, bringing the total to 492 outlets spread across 80 cities. This expansion aligns with the company’s focus on increasing accessibility and convenience for customers while tapping into both established and emerging markets.
Looking ahead, the management team remains optimistic about the long-term prospects for organized food service in India. Despite notable growth over the last 30 years, the Indian dining-out sector is still considerably underdeveloped compared to global benchmarks. The company’s leadership, as reflected in their FY26 annual report, views the industry as being in the early phase of a long-term growth cycle that could span several decades.
The broader quick service restaurant (QSR) market in India is expected to grow strongly, with estimates projecting an increase from $27.8 billion in 2025 to $30.4 billion in 2026. Further expansion is anticipated to reach $47.3 billion by 2031, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.3 percent. This surge is driven by shifts in urban consumption behaviors, with digital platforms playing a critical role in transforming how consumers engage with food service providers.
Delivery platforms have gained substantial traction, fueling higher order volumes and accelerating the sector’s growth. Westlife Foodworld’s continued focus on innovation, digital engagement, and geographic expansion positions it to benefit from these structural trends shaping India’s QSR landscape.
