TIPS Music Shares Soar to 52-Week High After Strong Q2 and Dividend News
TIPS Music's shares experienced a notable rally on Friday, climbing more than 10 percent during intraday trading to reach a fresh 52-week peak. This surge followed the release of the company's second quarter financial results for the fiscal year 2026-27 and the announcement of a substantial interim dividend of ₹6.50 per share, equivalent to 650 percent of the face value.
The stock opened at ₹700 on the National Stock Exchange and gained momentum throughout the session, peaking at ₹754.05. By mid-afternoon, it was trading around ₹738.55, marking an 8 percent rise. This performance outpaced the broader market, as the Nifty 50 index was up by 87 points, or 0.38 percent, at 23,084.
Looking at the stock's recent trend, TIPS Music has posted an 18 percent increase over the past week and a 41 percent gain compared to the same period last year. Over a three-year horizon, the stock has delivered an impressive 135 percent return, reflecting growing investor confidence in the company's prospects.
Financial Highlights for Q2 FY27
During the quarter spanning July to September, TIPS Music reported a 23 percent year-on-year jump in profit after tax (PAT), reaching ₹65.5 crore. This is up from ₹53.2 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. However, the PAT margin saw a slight decline, slipping to 54.6 percent from 59.6 percent.
Revenue from operations also showed strong growth, increasing by 35 percent to ₹120.1 crore compared to ₹89.2 crore a year earlier. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) rose by 25 percent, totaling ₹84.6 crore against ₹67.8 crore in the prior period. Despite these gains, the EBITDA margin decreased to 70.5 percent from 76 percent, indicating higher expenses during the quarter.
The company attributed part of the margin contraction to a significant rise in content costs, which nearly doubled to ₹26.2 crore from ₹13.3 crore year-on-year. Content expenses are critical for TIPS Music, given its business focus on music publishing and rights management.
In terms of output, the firm released a total of 73 songs in the quarter. This figure comprised 40 film songs and 33 non-film songs, underscoring TIPS Music's active role in the entertainment industry.
Interim Dividend Announcement
The board of directors declared the first interim dividend for FY27 at ₹6.50 per fully paid equity share with a face value of ₹1 each. The record date for dividend entitlement has been set for October 22, 2026, and payments are expected to be completed by November 12, 2026.
Technical Analysis Outlook
Analysts tracking TIPS Music’s stock note a strong technical rebound after the price found support near ₹610, close to its 200-day moving average. Harish Jujarey, head of technical equity research at Prithvi Finmart, highlighted the stock’s recent gains of nearly 17 percent within the week and its formation of a bullish Head and Shoulders pattern.
Jujarey noted that the stock broke above the ₹721 resistance level, signaling positive momentum. He suggested that the price could extend its upward trajectory towards ₹850. Investors looking for medium-term opportunities could consider accumulating shares on dips near the ₹720 support zone.
This performance and outlook come at a time when the music and entertainment sector in India is expanding, with digital platforms and content creation driving growth. Companies like TIPS Music, which manage music publishing rights, are positioned to benefit from increasing consumption of music content through various media.
Investors and market observers will be watching how the company balances revenue growth with cost pressures in coming quarters, as well as how dividend policies evolve amid changing market conditions.
