Last Day to Buy Shares of BLS E-Services and Veranda Learning Before Corporate Actions

Investors interested in BLS E-Services Limited and Veranda Learning Solutions have until Monday, October 5, to buy shares and qualify for upcoming corporate actions slated for October 6. Both companies have designated Tuesday as the record date, the cutoff to determine who will be eligible for benefits arising from a stock split and a spin-off respectively.

In the case of BLS E-Services, the firm announced a stock split that will halve the face value of its shares from ₹10 to ₹5. This means each existing share will be subdivided into two shares, each with a face value of ₹5. The company clarified that one equity share of ₹10 will convert into two fully paid-up equity shares of ₹5 each. The record date set for this subdivision is October 6, so investors must hold the stock before this date to benefit from the split.

As of Thursday, October 1, BLS E-Services’ shares closed at ₹322.05 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), marking a decline of 1.99% for the day. The company holds a market capitalization of ₹2,926.03 crore. Despite the recent dip, the stock has shown strong gains over the longer term, with a 75% increase over the past year and a 42% rise over two years.

Meanwhile, Veranda Learning Solutions is preparing for a spin-off that will reward eligible shareholders with shares in a new entity. According to the company’s announcement, shareholders recorded as of October 6 will receive one equity share of J.K. Shah Commerce Education Limited for every Veranda Learning share they own. Following the spin-off, J.K. Shah Commerce Education Limited intends to list its shares on both the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) after completing all necessary regulatory approvals and procedural requirements.

Veranda Learning’s stock closed at ₹213.70 on October 1, down 3.50% on the day. The company currently has a market capitalization of ₹2,062.35 crore. The stock has experienced a 48% rise in the past six months but has dropped 5.7% in the last year and approximately 30% over two years.

Stock splits and spin-offs are common corporate actions that can influence shareholder value and market dynamics. A stock split often makes shares more affordable by increasing the number of shares while reducing the price proportionally, potentially attracting more investors. Spin-offs, on the other hand, involve a company distributing shares of a new independent company to existing shareholders, often to focus on core businesses or unlock value in specific divisions.

For shareholders and potential buyers, understanding the timing of these events is crucial. Buying shares before the record date ensures eligibility for the benefits that come with such corporate restructurings. In this instance, October 5 marks the last chance to acquire shares of BLS E-Services and Veranda Learning Solutions ahead of their respective stock split and spin-off on October 6.

Investors should monitor market developments closely and consider how these corporate actions might affect stock performance in the near term. Both companies operate in sectors that have shown varied returns over recent years, and these structural changes could impact future valuations and trading activity.
