Gabriel India Partners with Forvia to Launch Advanced Seating JV

Gabriel India, the flagship entity of the ANAND Group valued at over $2.6 billion, has entered a strategic partnership with France-based automotive technology leader Forvia. The collaboration has resulted in the formation of a new joint venture called Faurecia ANAND Seating India Private Limited, aimed at introducing cutting-edge seating solutions to the Indian automotive market.

This alliance merges Forvia’s vast experience in global seating technologies with Gabriel India’s strong manufacturing capabilities and well-established relationships within India’s automotive sector. The joint venture represents a key milestone for Gabriel India as it expands its footprint beyond traditional components into more integrated automotive systems.

As vehicle designs grow more complex and consumer demands for comfort, safety, and technology rise, the partnership is expected to enhance Gabriel India’s role in an evolving segment of vehicle systems. The company emphasized that this collaboration will strengthen its capacity to meet the sophisticated needs of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India.

The new entity will focus on delivering advanced seating technologies tailored to the next generation of connected and intelligent vehicles. This approach aligns with the broader industry trend where automotive suppliers are shifting towards integrated, tech-driven solutions that contribute to vehicle safety and user experience.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Jaisal Singh, vice chairman of the ANAND Group and head of mergers and acquisitions, described the joint venture as a natural progression in Gabriel India’s transformation into a diversified mobility solutions provider. He highlighted the strategic value of participating across more areas of the automotive value chain as vehicle systems become increasingly technology-intensive.

"The venture strengthens our portfolio with a globally proven capability while reinforcing our commitment to building scalable, technology-led businesses that create enduring value," Singh said.

Anjali Singh, Executive Chairperson of the ANAND Group and Gabriel India Limited, underscored the venture’s potential to introduce next-generation automotive seating that enhances comfort and safety. She also noted that this move complements Gabriel India’s recent initiatives, including its partnership with HL Klemove, which focuses on automotive electronics and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

Gabriel India’s stock performance reflects investor confidence following these strategic developments. Since March, shares have surged approximately 65 percent, reaching ₹1,362 per share. Over six months, the stock gained 60 percent, hitting an all-time high of ₹1,600 in August before a slight correction due to market volatility. The company’s shares have consistently delivered positive returns over the past five years, with 2023 standing out as its best year, registering a 111 percent increase. The upward trend has continued into 2024, with a further 35 percent rise so far.

This joint venture with Forvia is significant within the context of India’s automotive industry, which is witnessing rapid adoption of advanced technologies and a shift toward smart, connected vehicles. Seating systems are no longer just about comfort; they now incorporate features related to safety, ergonomics, and intelligent integration with vehicle electronics.

Forvia, a global player in automotive technology, brings expertise that includes innovative seating design, lightweight materials, and smart functionalities. By combining this with Gabriel India’s strong local manufacturing presence and market knowledge, the joint venture is well-positioned to serve the evolving needs of Indian vehicle manufacturers and consumers.

Industry analysts view this partnership as a timely response to increasing demand for technologically advanced and safer automotive interiors. It also signals Gabriel India’s ambition to broaden its product portfolio and deepen its collaboration with global technology leaders.

The ANAND Group’s focus on building future-ready automotive businesses is reflected in its recent strategic moves. Apart from this joint venture, the group has been actively investing in high-growth areas such as automotive electronics and ADAS, sectors expected to drive the next wave of automotive innovation in India and globally.

Investors and industry watchers will likely keep a close eye on the progress of Faurecia ANAND Seating India Private Limited as it begins operations and rolls out new products. The success of this venture could serve as a model for other collaborations aimed at combining global technology with local expertise in the automotive sector.
