Orient Cables Announces ₹552 Crore IPO with Price Band ₹258-272

Orient Cables (India) Ltd has revealed the pricing details for its upcoming initial public offering, setting the price band between ₹258 and ₹272 per share. The company, known for manufacturing networking cables and passive networking equipment, plans to raise a total of ₹552 crore through this public offering.

The IPO will open for subscription on September 25 and conclude on September 29. Investors will have the opportunity to purchase shares during this five-day window as the company enters the primary market.

The structure of the offer includes a fresh issue of equity shares worth up to ₹320 crore along with an Offer for Sale (OFS) of shares totaling up to ₹232 crore. The fresh issue proceeds are earmarked primarily for capital expenditures, including investments in machinery, equipment, and civil infrastructure at Orient Cables’ manufacturing units. Additionally, a portion of the funds will be used to repay or partially prepay existing borrowings. The remainder will support general corporate expenses.

Prior to finalizing this IPO size, Orient Cables had submitted preliminary documents to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) aiming to raise ₹700 crore. This initial plan included a ₹320 crore fresh issue and a larger ₹380 crore OFS. The current ₹552 crore offer reflects a reduction of ₹148 crore, entirely from the Offer for Sale component. This adjustment likely aligns with market conditions and investor demand assessments.

Orient Cables operates in the networking cables sector, a market segment that has seen steady growth driven by increasing digital infrastructure investments across India. The company produces a range of cables and passive networking equipment, catering to telecommunications, IT, and other industrial applications. With the rollout of 5G networks and expansion of data centers, demand for high-quality networking cables is expected to continue rising.

Launching an IPO represents a strategic move for Orient Cables to bolster its manufacturing capabilities and strengthen its balance sheet. The infusion of fresh capital will enable the company to upgrade its production facilities, ensuring it remains competitive in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. Repayment of borrowings will also reduce interest expenses and improve financial flexibility.

Market participants and analysts will watch this IPO closely as it offers an opportunity to invest in a mid-sized player in the Indian networking equipment space. The pricing range suggests a valuation that reflects both the company’s current performance and growth prospects. The use of proceeds indicates a focus on operational enhancement and prudent financial management.

As the IPO subscription window approaches, potential investors will evaluate the company’s fundamentals alongside broader market trends. The period leading up to the listing will be critical in gauging demand for Orient Cables’ shares, which could influence the final pricing and allocation.

Overall, Orient Cables’ IPO is a notable development within the Indian manufacturing and technology sectors, reflecting ongoing efforts by domestic companies to access public capital markets for expansion and modernization. The successful execution of this offering could position the company for stronger growth in the years ahead.
