Nifty 50 Rebounds Near 23,450 with Key Resistance at 23,600 Ahead

On Wednesday, the Nifty 50 index staged a notable recovery after facing selling pressure near the 23,500 mark the previous day. The index climbed nearly 118 points, settling close to 23,450, marking its highest finish in almost two weeks. This upward move came amid a volatile session that began positively but included some early fluctuations.

Despite the choppiness in the opening hour, the index found support at its early session lows and gradually pushed higher as the trading day progressed. It reached an intraday peak of 23,466.90 before closing just below that level. This price action produced a bullish candle formation, signaling renewed buying interest after the bearish sentiment seen on Tuesday.

However, the range of Wednesday’s trading remained contained within the broader bounds of Tuesday’s bearish engulfing candle. This pattern, known as an inside candle, indicates consolidation and a pause in momentum. The absence of continued selling following the bearish pattern is a constructive sign, suggesting the bears may be losing control in the short term. Additionally, the index managed to reclaim its 8-day exponential moving average (8-DEMA), which it had dipped below during the prior session.

To confirm a robust reversal, the Nifty will need to surpass Tuesday’s high of 23,489. A sustained breakout above this level could pave the way for testing the 23,600 mark, a critical resistance zone. This area holds significance based on the change-in-polarity principle, where previous support can turn into resistance after a breakdown. Clearing this hurdle would imply a stronger shift in short-term momentum and could attract increased buying activity.

On the downside, immediate support lies between 23,350 and 23,285. Maintaining levels above this support zone is key to keeping the upside potential intact. A breach below 23,285 could undermine the recovery, possibly pushing the index lower toward the base of the large bearish candle formed on September 15.

Looking ahead to Thursday, the Nifty’s outlook appears cautiously optimistic following Wednesday’s rebound. The index remains range-bound for now, with resistance between 23,489 and 23,600 and support at 23,285 to 23,350. Traders will be watching for a decisive move above resistance to signal a stronger upward trend.

Among individual stocks, GNA Axles has attracted attention after breaking out from a two-month consolidation phase. The stock had rallied about 75% from its June lows to a high recorded on July 16, before entering a corrective phase. This pullback was relatively shallow, with the stock retracing less than half of its prior advance, suggesting the underlying trend remains healthy.

The recent breakout took place on strong volume, reinforcing its technical validity. GNA Axles is now trading above its key short-, medium-, and long-term moving averages on the daily chart. Technical indicators support this positive momentum, with the 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) moving into bullish territory and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) showing a bullish crossover.

For traders, sustaining the stock above ₹600 is crucial to maintaining the bullish outlook, with potential targets in the ₹635 to ₹655 range. A stop-loss near ₹562 could help manage downside risk.

GNA Axles’ recent price action highlights how technical patterns and volume can signal potential trend resumption, which is valuable for investors seeking entry points in volatile markets.
