Marico Aims for ₹20,000 Crore Revenue by FY30 with Digital Focus

Marico, a leading player in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, is advancing toward its Vision 2030 goal with a clear plan to grow consolidated revenues to ₹20,000 crore by the fiscal year 2030. This marks a significant increase from the ₹13,478 crore it expects to record by FY26. The company’s strategy revolves around a focused approach dubbed ‘Fewer, Bigger, Bolder and Faster,’ which emphasizes expanding select business areas rapidly and efficiently.

The growth target requires Marico to add ₹6,522 crore in annual revenue within four years, implying an annual compound growth rate of roughly 10.4 percent. Alongside revenue growth, the company aims to achieve mid-teen annual growth in EBITDA, reflecting its intent to enhance profitability while shifting away from its traditional reliance on commodity-linked segments such as coconut and edible oils.

Saugata Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of Marico, highlighted the company’s first-half performance as evidence of its transformation into a more resilient and diversified enterprise. He noted that the firm now operates multiple growth engines and has demonstrated the ability to maintain strong performance even amid commodity price fluctuations.

Shifting Focus from Commodities to Premium Segments

Marico’s investor update outlined its strategic pivot towards sectors featuring better unit economics, reduced volatility, and stronger operating leverage. The company expects foods and premium personal care segments—including ventures launched primarily through digital channels—to account for about 27 percent of its Indian revenue by the end of FY27. This proportion is projected to rise further to 33 percent by FY30.

Digital-first enterprises within Marico's portfolio are targeted to reach double-digit EBITDA margins by FY27, with expectations of even higher profitability in subsequent years. Gupta emphasized the robust momentum across the portfolio, noting that several business units have hit new performance highs, contributing to steady operating profit growth over multiple quarters.

Artificial Intelligence Enhances Distribution Strategy

The company is advancing Project SETU 2.0, which uses artificial intelligence to optimize assortment selling, empower the sales force, and improve store-level execution. This initiative also supports dedicated distribution channels for foods and premium personal care products. The initial phase of Project SETU expanded Marico’s direct distribution reach to more than 1.5 times the FY24 level, and the next phase aims to further boost product availability and accelerate growth in emerging categories.

Marico has also expanded the SETU model internationally, implementing it in Vietnam where early feedback has been positive. The company recently introduced this AI-led distribution system in Bangladesh as well.

International Expansion and Market Diversification

On the global front, Marico is strategically reducing its dependence on the Bangladesh market. By FY30, it expects that approximately 65 percent of its international revenue will come from markets other than Bangladesh, up from 55 percent in FY26 and 50 percent in FY20. Key growth drivers include Vietnam, the Middle East and North Africa, and South Africa.

The company is also focusing on premium product categories overseas, such as skincare, shampoos, and baby care. These segments are forecasted to represent 40 percent of international revenue by FY30, increasing from 30 percent in FY26.

Challenges Ahead and Outlook

Marico’s ambitious growth plan depends heavily on scaling newer businesses profitably, expanding its distribution network, and sustaining momentum in international markets while continuously reducing exposure to commodity price swings. Gupta remarked that with multiple growth engines active and ongoing investments in brands, personnel, and capabilities, the company is well-positioned to maintain its trajectory and build a stronger future.

As the FMCG sector evolves with rising consumer demand for premium and digital-first products, Marico’s approach highlights a broader industry trend toward innovation and diversification. Its use of artificial intelligence in distribution and focus on international markets align with efforts by many companies to modernize operations and tap emerging growth areas.

This strategy, if successful, could help Marico secure a more stable and profitable position in a competitive market, ensuring it meets its Vision 2030 targets and continues to deliver value to shareholders and consumers alike.
