Jindal Stainless Q2FY27 Profit Rises 11% with 18% Revenue Growth
Jindal Stainless Ltd, India's leading stainless steel producer, announced an 11 percent rise in net profit after tax for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company posted a profit of ₹898 crore in Q2FY27, up from ₹808 crore in the same period last year.
Revenue for the quarter surged 18 percent to ₹12,874 crore, compared to ₹10,893 crore during Q2FY26. The company attributed this growth to a strong rebound from operational challenges faced in the first quarter, which were influenced by geopolitical tensions and constraints in industrial gas supply.
On a sequential basis, Jindal Stainless saw a 14.4 percent increase in sales volume along with a 14.1 percent rise in net revenue. The performance was supported by higher sales of value-added stainless steel products. Additionally, the automotive sector and ornamental pipe and tube segments showed increased demand. The company also noted growing global acceptance of its plates and ferritic grade steels, particularly in applications such as white goods, elevators, and lifts.
Despite the positive trends, Jindal Stainless highlighted ongoing import pressure in the domestic market starting April 2026. Imports of stainless steel flat products from China in July 2026 were nearly three times the monthly average recorded during FY26. For the first four months of FY27, imports from China accounted for approximately 63 percent of the total imports in the previous financial year.
The company’s export business demonstrated strong momentum with a 20 percent quarter-on-quarter increase and a 36 percent rise year-on-year. Jindal Stainless is actively expanding its global footprint, focusing on markets such as South Korea, Colombia, South Africa, Brazil, and Japan.
During the quarter, the company’s board approved the merger of several subsidiaries including Chromeni Steels Limited, Rabirun Vinimay Private Limited, JSL Super Steel, and Jindal United Steel into Jindal Stainless Limited. This move aims to streamline the corporate structure, enhance operational efficiency, cut administrative and compliance expenses, and improve overall governance and management oversight.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, commented on the results saying that the company’s growth in Q2 reflects a steady recovery from the disruptions experienced in the first quarter. He emphasized that resilient domestic demand, driven by strong economic growth and increased awareness of lifecycle cost benefits, supported the positive performance.
He further addressed the challenges posed by the suspension of Quality Control Orders which led to an influx of substandard stainless steel imports, especially from China and Chinese-origin products. In response, Jindal Stainless focused on maintaining sales volumes by targeting expanding domestic markets and developing new export opportunities.
Looking forward, the company plans to continue broadening its market reach while improving its product mix to better serve both domestic and international customers.
For the full financial year 2025-26, Jindal Stainless recorded a turnover of ₹42,955 crore and maintains an annual melt capacity of 4.2 million tonnes. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing units across India and overseas locations, including Spain and Indonesia.
The stainless steel sector is an important part of the broader metals industry, serving diverse applications from automotive to construction and consumer appliances. Jindal Stainless’s steady growth amid global supply chain challenges and shifting trade dynamics highlights its role in maintaining supply and meeting evolving customer needs.
