UTI AMC Reports 17% Rise in Q2 Net Profit to ₹132 Crore

UTI Asset Management Company (UTI AMC) has announced a 17 percent increase in its net profit for the quarter ending September 2026, reaching ₹132 crore compared to ₹113 crore during the same period last year. This rise in profitability comes despite a slight decline in total income, highlighting the company's effective cost management and operational efficiency.

During the quarter, UTI AMC's total income marginally decreased to ₹415 crore from ₹419 crore in the previous year. However, the company saw its average quarterly assets under management (AUM) grow by 6 percent, climbing to ₹4.02 lakh crore from ₹3.78 lakh crore. This increase reflects sustained investor interest and inflows into the company’s mutual fund schemes amid a competitive asset management landscape.

Breaking down the AUM by category, equity assets under management experienced a slight reduction, falling to ₹99,306 crore from ₹99,551 crore recorded in the prior year. Conversely, hybrid funds witnessed a 3 percent rise, reaching ₹34,504 crore compared to ₹33,651 crore. These shifts indicate a modest rotation of investor preferences within UTI AMC’s portfolio offerings.

Passive fund assets showed notable growth, increasing to ₹1.88 lakh crore from ₹1.62 lakh crore year-on-year. This trend aligns with the broader market movement where investors are increasingly favoring index-linked and low-cost passive investment options. Meanwhile, fixed income assets declined by 17 percent to ₹34,416 crore, down from ₹40,047 crore, reflecting challenges in the debt segment amid fluctuating interest rates.

The cash and arbitrage category grew by 11 percent to ₹47,574 crore, up from ₹42,721 crore, suggesting investors’ preference for liquidity and short-term investment instruments during this period. This segment often attracts investors seeking relatively safer and more liquid options in uncertain market conditions.

UTI AMC also reported a significant increase in Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) contributions during the September quarter. SIP inflows rose by 27 percent to ₹2,980 crore, compared to ₹2,338 crore in the same quarter last year. This surge highlights the growing popularity of disciplined, periodic investment strategies among retail investors looking to build wealth gradually.

The asset management industry in India has been witnessing steady growth, driven by rising financial literacy, expanding middle-class wealth, and regulatory support encouraging mutual fund investments. UTI AMC's performance reflects these broader sector trends as the firm continues to maintain a strong market position among India's leading asset managers.

With a diverse product portfolio spanning equity, hybrid, passive, fixed income, and cash segments, UTI AMC is positioned to cater to varied investor needs. The company’s ability to increase profitability during a period of marginal income decline demonstrates resilience and effective management practices.

As the mutual fund market evolves with increased competition and changing investor preferences, UTI AMC’s focus on expanding passive fund assets and growing SIP contributions could prove advantageous. These areas are becoming critical growth drivers in the asset management sector as more investors seek cost-effective and disciplined investment avenues.

Overall, UTI AMC's September quarter results provide insights into its operational strengths and the shifting dynamics within India’s mutual fund industry. The company’s growth in net profit and assets under management, coupled with rising SIP inflows, underscore its ongoing relevance in a competitive market.
