Market analysts from various brokerage houses have revised their outlook on key companies following the recent quarterly earnings announcements. Motilal Oswal Securities (MOSL) upgraded its rating on BSE to ‘Buy’ with a target price of Rs 4000, citing a significant 85% increase in average daily turnover (ADTO) in October 2026 compared to August 2026. The upcoming partial reversal of the cost adjustment surcharge (CAS) starting December 7, 2026, is seen as a structural catalyst that could further enhance earnings. MOSL highlighted the company’s commanding market share of over 30% and noted the potential for additional gains in market share and monetization, expecting a 27% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in profit after tax (PAT) between fiscal years 2026 and 2028.

Jefferies also reaffirmed a ‘Buy’ rating on MCX with a target of Rs 4000, despite a 12% share price decline over the last month attributed to gold price corrections. The firm emphasized that bullion accounts for only 40% of MCX’s transaction revenue, with energy transactions making up the remaining 60%, which have shown stronger-than-expected average daily turnover in September and October 2026. This diversification offers MCX a buffer against volatility in crude prices, setting it apart from global peers. Jefferies projects a 4-5% increase in PAT for fiscal year 2027 if current trends persist.

One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, attracted varied analyst views. Bernstein maintained an ‘Outperform’ rating with a target price of Rs 2200, recognizing strong revenue growth in the second quarter of fiscal 2027 driven by 49% year-over-year growth in financial services and 26% growth in marketing services. Despite higher indirect costs, EBITDA surged 90% year-on-year with margins expanding to 10%. Morgan Stanley gave an ‘Equal Weight’ rating with a target of Rs 1450, noting Paytm’s clean operating beat and acceleration in financial services revenue. The company expects an uplift in payment processing margins from new merchant discount rate (MDR) policies on select UPI transactions, which could add approximately Rs 9.7 billion in gross merchandise value (GMV) for fiscal 2028. However, management indicated that costs related to delayed loan guarantees (DLG) would rise in the near term, potentially impacting contribution margins temporarily.

Goldman Sachs expressed optimism with a ‘Buy’ rating and a revised target price of Rs 2010, citing strong revenue growth and EBITDA margin expansion. The firm underlined Paytm’s improved market share in payments and the anticipated positive impact of MDR revenue starting later in the fiscal year. Citi also upgraded its target price to Rs 1940, highlighting that net payment margins improved and financial services revenue growth accelerated to 49% year-over-year. Jefferies echoed these sentiments, emphasizing a sharp rise in EBITDA margin to 10% and robust revenue growth led by financial services.

In the automotive components sector, Sona BLW Precision Forgings reported a 35% year-over-year revenue increase in the second quarter of fiscal 2027. Bernstein maintained an ‘Outperform’ rating with a target of Rs 850, noting strong gains in traction motors and recovery in differential assemblies. Citi raised its target price to Rs 960, highlighting strong demand in global electric vehicle (EV) markets and domestic two-wheeler segments despite margin pressures from material costs and freight rates. Kotak Institutional Equities issued a ‘Sell’ rating with a target of Rs 700, citing expensive valuations despite strong revenue growth, while JPMorgan downgraded the stock to ‘Underweight’ with a Rs 600 target, pointing to valuation concerns despite solid quarterly performance.

Analysts at Jefferies upgraded their target price to Rs 950, noting Sona BLW’s successful acquisition of new orders and entry into robotics and physical artificial intelligence, signaling growth opportunities despite a high valuation. This sector’s strong performance aligns with increasing global demand for electric vehicles and advanced automotive components, a trend expected to continue in the coming years.

Tata Consumer Products delivered a strong quarter with 14% year-over-year sales growth and a 17% rise in EBITDA, driven by volume gains in its salt business and steady tea volumes. CLSA assigned an ‘Outperform’ rating with a target of Rs 1372, observing that growth businesses within Tata Consumer achieved 42% revenue increases despite a challenging base. The company anticipates accelerating tea business growth and improving margins in the second half of fiscal 2027, supported by price increases and operational efficiencies. HSBC reiterated a ‘Buy’ rating with a target of Rs 1170, noting marginal beats in quarterly results and a focus on margin improvement. Goldman Sachs also maintained a ‘Buy’ rating with a target price of Rs 1325, highlighting robust volume growth and expected pricing momentum.

Overall, the Indian stock market’s mixed performance on expiry day reflects investor caution amid evolving economic conditions. However, individual companies like Tata Consumer Products and Paytm show promising growth trajectories backed by strong earnings and strategic initiatives. The diverse analyst perspectives on firms such as Sona BLW underline the importance of valuation considerations alongside growth potential. These developments occur within a broader context of increasing digitization in financial services, growing consumer demand in emerging markets, and accelerating adoption of electric vehicles, all of which are reshaping sectors and creating new investment opportunities.
