Sedemac Mechatronics Investors Plan Rs 1,329 Crore Stake Sale in Block Deal
Investors in Sedemac Mechatronics, a key supplier of electronic control units to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), are preparing to sell a 10% equity stake through a block deal estimated at around Rs 1,329 crore. The transaction involves up to 44.3 lakh shares, with prominent stakeholders like HDFC Life Insurance, A91 Emerging Fund, and Xponentia Opportunities Fund reportedly participating in the sale.
The proposed sale is planned at a floor price of Rs 3,000 per share, which is roughly 1.2% below the company’s closing share price on Wednesday. On that day, Sedemac Mechatronics shares ended at Rs 3,052.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), after trading between a low of Rs 2,970.05 and a high of Rs 3,080. This discount pricing is typical in block deals to attract buyers while providing liquidity for large shareholders. The shares involved in the block deal are expected to have a lock-in period of 60 days, restricting immediate resale.
Sedemac Mechatronics debuted on the stock market on March 11, 2026, following an initial public offering (IPO) that raised Rs 1,087.45 crore. The company’s shares were initially listed at Rs 1,535 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), representing a 13.5% premium over the IPO issue price of Rs 1,352. On the BSE, the stock opened at Rs 1,510, marking an 11.7% gain over the issue price. Since the IPO, the stock price has risen substantially, more than doubling to its current level, reflecting a gain of about 126% from the issue price.
Sedemac Mechatronics specializes in manufacturing control-intensive, application-critical electronic control units that serve OEMs across mobility and industrial sectors in India, the United States, and Europe. The company highlights that most of its revenue is generated from products that incorporate proprietary control technologies developed internally. These innovations are intended to provide distinctive solutions and added value to both OEM clients and end users.
Currently, Sedemac Mechatronics holds a market capitalization of approximately Rs 13,491 crore on the BSE, underscoring its significant valuation in the electronics manufacturing domain. The upcoming block deal will allow early investors and institutional shareholders to liquidate a portion of their holdings, a move that often indicates portfolio rebalancing or profit booking following strong market performance.
Block deals are a common feature in Indian equity markets, providing a mechanism for large transactions without causing excessive volatility in the stock price. Such deals typically involve negotiations between buyers and sellers outside regular trading hours, with prices set at a discount to attract institutional investors.
This transaction comes at a time when Sedemac Mechatronics has demonstrated strong market acceptance post-IPO, with its shares steadily appreciating since debut. The company's focus on innovation and supplying critical electronic components aligns with the growing demand for advanced technology in automotive and industrial segments worldwide.
Investors and market watchers will be closely monitoring the block deal, as it reflects both confidence in the company’s underlying business and the willingness of major shareholders to adjust their positions. The 60-day lock-in will also prevent immediate resale, potentially stabilizing the stock price post-transaction.
