Kalpataru Projects Secures ₹2,225 Crore in New T&D Orders
Kalpataru Projects International Limited (KPIL) announced on Tuesday that it has secured new contracts and a letter of comfort worth approximately ₹2,031 crore in its Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business. These orders span both domestic and international markets, reflecting the company's expanding footprint in the power infrastructure sector.
Additionally, KPIL's Swedish arm, Linjemontage i Grästorp AB, has acquired an order valued at about ₹194 crore (equivalent to 200 million Swedish krona). This latest win raises the total value of recent contracts to ₹2,225 crore.
For the current financial year so far, KPIL has amassed orders totaling around ₹20,000 crore, marking a growth exceeding 30 percent compared to the previous year. This significant increase underscores the rising demand for transmission infrastructure and renewable energy integration projects.
Manish Mohnot, the managing director and chief executive officer of KPIL, expressed satisfaction with the new contracts. He highlighted that these wins demonstrate strong confidence in the company's execution skills and technical know-how. "We are pleased to announce new order wins in our T&D business, which reflect a strong endorsement of our execution capabilities, technical expertise, and growing customer confidence," Mohnot stated.
The power transmission sector is experiencing accelerated investment driven by the need to expand grid capacity, improve reliability, and integrate renewable energy sources. India is a key market for such growth, but KPIL’s international projects also contribute significantly to its order book.
Linjemontage’s recent order comes from Ellevio AB, a Swedish utility company. The contract involves refurbishing and expanding an existing 130 kilovolt (kV) substation located in Repbäcken, Borlänge. This project will span approximately three years.
The objective of this substation upgrade is to enhance redundancy and increase capacity within the regional electricity network. The scope includes constructing a new 130 kV substation adjacent to the existing one, which will continue operating throughout the construction phase to avoid disruptions.
In subsequent stages, Ellevio plans to connect four new overhead power lines to the newly built substation. Additionally, a new 400 kV bay will link the substation to the Svenska kraftnät transmission grid, further strengthening the regional power infrastructure.
The contract is structured as a turnkey project. Deliverables include foundation and civil engineering works, construction of a control building, installation of control systems, assembly, testing, and commissioning of the entire facility.
Work is expected to commence immediately after contract signing and continue until the final inspection, which is scheduled for October 15, 2029. This long-term engagement reflects the complexity and scale of modern power grid projects.
Kalpataru Projects International has been steadily growing its presence in the T&D sector by focusing on infrastructure projects that support the evolving energy landscape. As grids adapt to increased renewable energy inputs and demand for electricity rises, companies like KPIL play a vital role in enabling these transitions through engineering and construction expertise.
With these latest orders, KPIL reinforces its position as a key player in power transmission and distribution, both in India and abroad. The combination of domestic projects and international contracts through subsidiaries like Linjemontage illustrates the company’s strategic approach to diversified growth in a competitive industry.
