HDB Financial Services Reports 34% Rise in Q2FY27 Profit to ₹780 Crore

HDB Financial Services, a prominent non-banking financial company (NBFC) in India, announced a significant jump in its quarterly profit, reporting a 34.2 percent increase in profit after tax (PAT) for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company posted a PAT of ₹780 crore for the three months ending September 30, 2026, compared to ₹581 crore in the same period last year. This performance reflects a combination of rising loan demand and a reduction in provisions for loan losses.

The firm’s net interest income (NII) also showed healthy growth, increasing by 15.6 percent to ₹2,534 crore during the quarter. This figure rose from ₹2,192 crore recorded in Q2FY26. Net interest income is a key profitability indicator for financial institutions, representing the difference between the interest earned on loans and the interest paid on deposits or borrowings.

Total income for HDB Financial Services climbed 12 percent to ₹3,188 crore during the quarter under review, up from ₹2,851 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. This increase in income was supported by a 12 percent expansion in the company’s gross loan book, which reached ₹1.24 lakh crore by the end of September 2026. The gross loan book had stood at ₹1.12 lakh crore during the same period last year.

Loan losses and provisions, which reflect the amount set aside to cover potential loan defaults, decreased by 2.5 percent to ₹730 crore for the quarter. This compares to ₹748 crore in the year-ago quarter, indicating improved asset quality or risk management.

HDB Financial Services operates in the NBFC sector, which plays a vital role in India's financial ecosystem by providing credit and financial services to underserved segments, including small businesses and retail customers. The sector has witnessed robust growth in recent years due to increasing demand for credit, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.

The company’s strong quarterly results come amid a broader economic environment where demand for credit is rising, fueled by factors such as economic recovery, increased consumer spending, and government initiatives promoting financial inclusion. Lower provisions also suggest that the company's loan portfolio remains relatively stable, with manageable levels of non-performing assets.

Overall, HDB Financial Services’ performance in Q2FY27 highlights its ability to capitalize on growing loan demand while maintaining disciplined risk management. As the financial sector continues to evolve, NBFCs like HDB Financial Services are likely to play an increasingly important role in supporting economic growth through lending and financial products tailored to diverse customer needs.

Investors and market watchers will be closely monitoring the company’s future quarters to see if this trend of profit growth and asset quality improvement continues, especially given the competitive dynamics and regulatory challenges in the NBFC space.
