The Enforcement Directorate (ED) announced on Tuesday that it has taken control of assets valued at ₹510 crore as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering connected to bank fraud involving the Reliance Anil Ambani Group (RAAG). Among the seized assets are two aircraft, land parcels, office premises, windmills, and various financial holdings.

This action comes amid probes into separate fraud allegations. One case involves Reliance Home Finance Limited (RHFL) and Reliance Commercial Finance Limited (RCFL), where a fraud of ₹263.05 crore has been alleged. Another case concerns Reliance Communication Limited (RCOM), with a purported fraudulent amount of ₹247.12 crore.

Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), a provisional order has been issued to attach these properties and financial instruments. The ED's statement detailed the types of assets seized. In the RCOM investigation, attached assets include two chartered aircraft—a Dassault Falcon 2000 and an Embraer—alongside six land parcels and an office located in Maharashtra.

For the RHFL and RCFL matter, the attached properties consist of two windmills in Tamil Nadu, as well as frozen bank balances, fixed deposits, and other investments. These measures form part of a wider effort to recover allegedly misappropriated funds.

The ED's findings suggest that the RAAG was involved in complex financial maneuvers. According to the agency, there was systematic siphoning of public money from banks and financial institutions. The probe also alleges misuse of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) to shield corporate assets from creditors and divert public funds abroad, particularly to offshore tax havens.

"A large part was utilised for the individual benefit of the promoters and their family," the ED stated, highlighting the personal gains made by those connected to the group.

In connection with these investigations, the ED has arrested 10 individuals and filed six chargesheets. The agency is also conducting a separate inquiry under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) in relation to these cases.

The latest asset attachment pushes the total value of seized and attached properties in this matter to ₹23,100 crore. This figure reflects the scale and seriousness of the alleged financial irregularities involving the Reliance Anil Ambani Group.

The Enforcement Directorate's actions exemplify the government's efforts to combat financial crimes and recover diverted public funds. Money laundering and bank fraud cases have drawn increased scrutiny in recent years as authorities intensify their focus on corporate governance and financial accountability.

The Reliance Anil Ambani Group, a major player in sectors such as telecommunications, finance, and infrastructure, has faced various legal and financial challenges in recent times. These developments add further complexity to the group's ongoing restructuring and financial management efforts.

As the investigation continues, further updates are expected regarding additional asset attachments and legal proceedings. The ED's rigorous approach signals a commitment to addressing alleged financial misconduct and protecting public interest.
