Emkay Global Financial Recommends Buy on Tejas Networks with Rs 1100 Target
Emkay Global Financial has issued a positive recommendation for Tejas Networks, assigning a buy rating and setting a target price of Rs 1100 per share. This update comes in the firm’s research report dated April 23, 2024, reflecting optimism about the company’s recent financial performance and growth prospects.
Tejas Networks recently delivered better-than-expected revenue and margin figures, largely driven by the execution of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) 4G network rollout. This development signals a robust demand environment for the company’s telecom equipment and services.
The brokerage highlighted several key factors underpinning Tejas Networks’ growth potential. First, the Indian government’s focus on promoting domestic manufacturing through initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme provides a favorable backdrop. Tejas, being a homegrown company, stands to gain from these policies aimed at boosting indigenous production and reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
Second, substantial investments in major government projects, including BSNL’s network upgrade, BharatNet, and various railway communications programs, are expected to sustain strong order inflows. These projects represent critical infrastructure development efforts that require reliable telecom equipment, an area where Tejas Networks is well positioned.
Additionally, the company is expanding its client base with new references from prominent organizations such as Tata Communications (TCom) and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). These endorsements open doors to further business opportunities and enhance credibility in both domestic and international markets.
Another important factor is the global shift away from Chinese telecom equipment providers. As countries move to diversify their supply chains and adopt non-Chinese alternatives, Tejas Networks could benefit from increased demand for its products in various regions.
Emkay Financial projects that revenue from BSNL and BharatNet projects alone could quadruple in the fiscal year 2025 compared to fiscal year 2024. Reflecting this optimistic outlook, the brokerage has raised its revenue estimates by 6 percent for FY25 and 7 percent for FY26. The company’s EBITDA margins have also been adjusted upward by 150 to 10 basis points, acknowledging the margin improvement demonstrated in recent results.
Based on a discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation method, Emkay has increased the target price from Rs 975 to Rs 1100 per share, indicating a potential upside of 21 percent from current levels. The valuation assumes a weighted average cost of capital (WACC) of 10.5 percent and a terminal growth rate of 6 percent. Given these parameters, Emkay maintains a buy rating on Tejas Networks.
Tejas Networks is a key player in India’s telecom equipment manufacturing sector. The company designs and produces a range of products including optical transport, broadband access, and data networking equipment. Its focus on innovation and alignment with government initiatives has positioned it as a significant beneficiary of the country’s push toward self-reliance in technology and telecommunications infrastructure.
With the Indian telecom market evolving rapidly, driven by digital transformation and expanding network coverage, companies like Tejas Networks are at the forefront of meeting infrastructure needs. The government's efforts to build a strong domestic manufacturing base and replace foreign equipment providers, particularly from China, create a conducive environment for growth.
Investors looking at the telecom sector would find Tejas Networks’ recent performance and government-backed projects an important consideration. The company’s increasing revenues, improving margins, and expanding clientele suggest a positive trajectory in the medium term.
As always, investors should conduct their own due diligence and consult with financial experts before making investment decisions. The views expressed by brokerage firms represent their analysis and not a guarantee of future performance.
