Nifty Climbs Over 1,200 Points in Seven Sessions; Eyes 24,000 Mark
The Nifty index extended its upward trajectory for the fourth straight trading day on Tuesday, recording a significant gain of 370 points to close at 23,810. This rally marked the most substantial four-session run since April 8, 2026, signaling renewed investor interest and momentum in the market.
Tuesday’s session began with the index opening 142 points higher than the previous close, maintaining a steady climb throughout the day and finishing at the session’s peak. Over the last seven trading days, the Nifty has surged by more than 1,200 points, reflecting a notable rebound from earlier lows.
Technical indicators suggest that the medium-term momentum of the Nifty is improving. After crossing above the 20-day and 50-day exponential moving averages (DEMA), the index has also surpassed its 100-day DEMA. These levels are important markers for traders looking at the trend strength and potential future movements.
Looking ahead, analysts from HDFC Securities have identified resistance levels at 23,903 and 24,012, which correspond to the 200-day exponential moving average (EMA) and the 200-day simple moving average (SMA), respectively. These points may act as hurdles for further gains in the near term. On the downside, support has moved up to 23,500. A dip toward this level could present a buying opportunity, provided the index holds above that threshold.
Among individual stocks, Maruti Suzuki has shown promising signs. It recently broke through the 20-day DEMA and cleared a triple top resistance near 11,650. This price advance is supported by increased trading volumes, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains above 50, indicating sustained buying interest. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator is also rising and staying above its signal line, further reinforcing the bullish outlook.
Kotak Mahindra Bank is another stock catching attention. It is approaching a multi-top resistance level, and its primary trend is bullish, having stayed above key moving averages for some time. The stock's price increase is accompanied by higher volumes, and the weekly RSI also holds above 50. Meanwhile, the weekly MACD continues to rise and stays above both zero and its signal line, suggesting strength in the upward momentum.
HDFC Securities’ senior technical analyst Vinay Rajani commented on the trend, emphasizing the significance of the moving averages and volume indicators as markers of investor confidence. These technical signals are closely watched by market participants to gauge potential entry and exit points.
The recent uptrend in the Nifty comes amid a broader global market environment where investors are cautiously optimistic. Factors such as corporate earnings, economic data releases, and geopolitical developments remain key drivers of market sentiment. The ability of the Nifty to sustain gains beyond critical resistance levels will be an important indicator of the market’s medium-term direction.
For traders and investors, understanding these technical levels and monitoring volume patterns can assist in making informed decisions. While markets can be unpredictable, adherence to disciplined analysis offers a framework for navigating price movements.
Overall, the Nifty’s recent performance demonstrates a shift towards positive momentum after a period of consolidation. With resistance near the 24,000 mark, market watchers will be observing whether this level can be breached to signal further upside potential or if a pullback to support levels will occur. Stocks like Maruti Suzuki and Kotak Mahindra Bank exemplify the sectors and companies currently attracting investor interest based on their technical profiles.
