Delhi-based pharmaceutical company Mankind Pharma has announced a significant increase in its consolidated net profit for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The firm's profit after tax (PAT) surged by 37.7 percent year-on-year, reaching ₹716 crore compared to ₹520 crore in the same period last year. This growth was accompanied by a 17.3 percent rise in revenue from operations, which climbed to ₹4,338 crore from ₹3,697 crore in Q2 FY26.

Rajeev Juneja, vice-chairman and managing director of Mankind Pharma, attributed the impressive financial results mainly to the company's strong performance in the domestic market. He highlighted the growth in Bharat Serums and Vaccines’ (BSV) specialty product portfolio as another key factor contributing to the revenue increase.

The domestic segment remains the cornerstone of Mankind Pharma's business, accounting for 86 percent of its total revenue. The India operations alone recorded a 14.8 percent growth, generating ₹3,657 crore during the quarter. Demand for chronic therapies, particularly those addressing cardiac conditions and diabetes, played a crucial role in driving this domestic expansion.

While the chronic drug segment showed robust growth, the company’s over-the-counter (OTC) consumer healthcare division experienced a modest increase of only 1.2 percent year-on-year. This slower growth was partly due to an industry-wide decrease in demand for OTC products and specific regional challenges in eastern and southern parts of India.

On the international front, Mankind Pharma’s revenue rose by 33 percent in Q2 FY27, reaching ₹2,061 crore. This growth was supported by strong performances from both the Mankind and BSV International businesses, reflecting the company’s expanding global footprint.

Looking ahead, Juneja emphasized Mankind Pharma’s recent acquisition of Armed Cell Therapeutics as a strategic move to enter the next-generation CAR-T therapy market. This acquisition is expected to enhance the company’s research and development capabilities, positioning it for sustained innovation and growth in the evolving pharmaceutical landscape.

The company released these financial results after market hours. Following the announcement, Mankind Pharma’s stock price rose by 3.38 percent, closing at ₹2,302 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Monday.

Mankind Pharma has steadily grown into one of India's leading pharmaceutical firms, focusing on a wide range of therapeutic areas. The company’s emphasis on chronic disease medications aligns with the increasing healthcare needs of India’s aging population and rising incidence of lifestyle-related illnesses. Its expansion in specialty medicines and international markets reflects broader trends in the pharmaceutical sector, where companies seek to diversify portfolios and tap into new growth avenues.

This quarter’s results underline the importance of a strong domestic market presence complemented by strategic investments in advanced therapies and international business. Mankind Pharma’s performance may encourage investors and industry watchers to monitor its next steps, particularly in biotechnology and specialty drug development, as the company aims to maintain its upward trajectory in a competitive market.
