Lenskart Shares Dip 3% After Rs 2,047 Crore Block Deal; Platinum Jasmine Likely Seller

Lenskart Solutions witnessed a notable decline in its share price on Monday as more than 3 crore shares exchanged hands in a substantial block deal valued at approximately Rs 2,047 crore. The transaction reportedly involved Platinum Jasmine, which is believed to have offloaded a significant portion of its stake in the eyewear retailer.

Shares of Lenskart dropped over 3 percent, settling around Rs 683 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) by Monday morning. This movement halted the stock's recent two-day upward trend. Despite the setback, Lenskart's stock has achieved an impressive gain of more than 58 percent since the beginning of 2026, reflecting strong investor confidence in the company’s growth prospects.

The block deal saw around 3.53 crore shares, representing nearly 2 percent of Lenskart's equity, change ownership. Preliminary reports suggest Platinum Jasmine was the seller, potentially divesting close to 3 crore shares, which equates to about a 1.7 percent stake in the company. According to shareholding data from the April-June quarter of fiscal year 2027, Platinum Jasmine held close to a 10 percent stake in Lenskart at that time.

The shares involved in the transaction were sold at approximately Rs 682.45 each, which is roughly 3 percent below the prior closing price. This discount reflects the typical pricing dynamics of block deals, where large volumes are traded in a single transaction, often at a slight concession to the market price.

Lenskart’s stock has shown resilience amid market fluctuations, especially considering its initial public offering (IPO) performance. The company went public in November 2025, raising Rs 7,278 crore through a combination of fresh issuance and an offer for sale by existing shareholders. The shares debuted at Rs 395 on the NSE, slightly below the issue price of Rs 402, while on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), they opened at Rs 390.

Since listing, the stock has steadily climbed, gaining about 5 percent over the past month and 2 percent in the last week alone. Presently, Lenskart boasts a market capitalization exceeding Rs 1.2 lakh crore, solidifying its position as a major player in the Indian eyewear market.

Market analysts have noted Lenskart’s transformation from a challenger brand to a market leader. Last month, Nomura initiated coverage on Lenskart with a Buy rating and a price target of Rs 888 per share. The brokerage highlighted the company’s ambitious expansion plans, citing a potential network of over 10,000 stores, with only 27 percent of that capacity currently utilized.

Nomura also pointed out Lenskart’s competitive edge within India’s highly fragmented prescription eyewear sector, where it holds a 5 percent market share—twice that of the next largest competitor. The firm’s vertically integrated business model, which spans centralized manufacturing to retail, combined with AI-driven operations, helps maintain a cost structure 35 to 40 percent lower than the industry average. This efficiency supports both profitability and scalability.

Lenskart’s recent block deal and share price movement underscore ongoing investor interest and the company’s active shareholder changes amid its growth trajectory. As the company continues to expand its footprint and strengthen its market position, its stock remains a closely watched asset in the Indian equity market.
