Cognizant and Google Cloud have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership focused on accelerating the adoption of agentic artificial intelligence within enterprise environments. Central to this development is the launch of the Gemini Frontier Capability Group, a dedicated global team that integrates Google's comprehensive AI platform with Cognizant's industry-specific knowledge and engineering skills.

The Gemini Frontier Capability Group is supported by over 18,000 Cognizant associates worldwide and represents a significant joint investment between the two companies. This initiative builds upon the foundation laid by Cognizant's Gemini practice, which was introduced earlier in April 2026. The new group aims to facilitate the transition of AI technologies from pilot stages into full-scale production, enabling businesses to deploy resilient, enterprise-grade AI agents that deliver measurable value.

Ravi Kumar S, CEO of Cognizant, highlighted the importance of the new group, stating that it allows the company's leading frontier engineering talent to focus exclusively on bringing advanced AI solutions into operational use for clients. This approach underscores Cognizant's commitment to marrying technical expertise with practical deployment strategies.

One notable aspect of the partnership is the 'Build with Gemini' workshop, which has provided hands-on experience to over 55,000 Cognizant associates. This initiative has been instrumental in equipping employees with the skills necessary to work with Google's advanced AI platform, further strengthening the company's capacity to implement AI solutions at scale.

From the perspective of Google Cloud, CEO Thomas Kurian emphasized that large-scale deployment of AI agents requires reliable partners who possess deep architectural and integration knowledge. He acknowledged Cognizant's dedicated Frontier Capability Group and its extensive training programs as key factors that will help accelerate the adoption of autonomous AI agents across various enterprises.

The Gemini Frontier Capability Group is designed to address the increasing demand among corporations for scalable AI solutions that produce tangible business outcomes. The team will initially focus on several critical areas: legacy system modernization, enhancing developer experiences, implementing autonomous business process agents, and advancing frontier cybersecurity measures.

To ensure security and standardization, the group plans to employ an agentic architecture built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), reinforced by Google Cloud's Model Armor security framework. These technologies are intended to help enterprises deploy AI agents with confidence, maintaining resilience and safeguarding sensitive data.

Internally, Cognizant is also leveraging the Gemini platform extensively. The company revealed plans to roll out Gemini tools to 100,000 employees in 2026, with ambitions to expand usage to 200,000 associates. Additionally, Cognizant continues to increase its certification efforts, aiming to build a workforce proficient in this AI platform.

This expanded partnership between Cognizant and Google Cloud reflects the growing trend in the technology sector toward integrating advanced AI capabilities into business operations. As enterprises seek to harness AI for process automation, decision-making, and cybersecurity, collaborations like this one are becoming vital to bridging technological innovation with real-world application.

By combining Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure with Cognizant’s domain expertise and engineering resources, the Gemini Frontier Capability Group is positioned to play a crucial role in driving the next phase of AI adoption across industries worldwide.
