IIM Bangalore Achieves 100% Summer Placement with 608 Offers from 128 Firms

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) has successfully wrapped up its summer placement season for the 2026-28 Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) batches. All 608 students who took part in the placement process secured internship offers from a total of 128 organisations. The placement week, held from October 26 to 29, highlighted strong demand from consulting firms and a notable rise in technology sector participation.

Consulting dominated the recruitment landscape, representing just over half of the total offers made. Specifically, consulting firms extended 308 internship offers across 22 companies. Accenture Strategy led the pack as the top recruiter, providing 123 internship opportunities. Other major consulting firms such as Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and EY Global Delivery Services each contributed 23 offers. Kearney followed with 19 offers, while McKinsey & Company offered 12 internships.

Financial services also played a significant role in the hiring spree. The finance, banking, and investment sectors combined delivered 74 offers from 33 organisations. Noteworthy contributors included American Express with 17 offers and Goldman Sachs with eight. Technology companies increased their hiring activity, collectively making 51 offers. Microsoft and Albertsons Companies each offered six internships, while Google extended four. E-commerce, fintech, payments, and retail firms together accounted for 46 offers.

The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector remained steady, contributing 43 offers. Procter & Gamble led within this sector by offering 10 internships, followed by ITC with seven. Conglomerates made 40 offers, while companies in manufacturing, construction, energy, and infrastructure sectors provided 25 offers in total.

The median stipend for the summer internships stood at ₹2 lakh per month, with the average stipend slightly lower at ₹1.95 lakh. This reflects the premium placed on talent from IIM Bangalore, one of India’s premier business schools. The institute noted an influx of first-time recruiters, who made up nearly 40% of the organisations that participated during this placement cycle. This increase in new recruiters indicates growing confidence in IIM-B’s talent pool and an expanding reach across industries.

According to the Placement Committee at IIM Bangalore, more than 600 students received internship offers within just two days of the placement process. This achievement set a new record for the highest number of offers made during a two-day summer placement round among the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

IIM Bangalore’s summer placements are widely regarded as a reflection of the school’s academic rigor and industry relevance. The institute’s strong ties with consulting giants, multinational technology firms, financial institutions, and FMCG leaders continue to attract high-quality recruiters. These companies seek fresh talent equipped with analytical skills, strategic thinking, and leadership potential, qualities that IIM Bangalore emphasizes in its curriculum.

Summer internships serve as a critical stepping stone for students, providing hands-on experience and exposure to real-world business challenges. The robust placement season this year not only benefits the students but also signals to the broader market the sustained demand for skilled management professionals amid evolving business landscapes.

With the 2026-28 batch securing such strong internship placements, the stage is set for a promising final year and eventual full-time placements. IIM Bangalore’s ability to attract a diverse set of recruiters across sectors highlights its position as a leading management institute in India and globally.
