AM Intelligence Seeks $3 Billion to Finance Nvidia Chip Purchase
AM Intelligence, an artificial intelligence infrastructure company based in India, is reportedly pursuing up to $3 billion in funding to support its purchase of next-generation chips from Nvidia Corporation. Sources familiar with the negotiations, who requested anonymity due to the confidential nature of the talks, revealed that the financing package could include a combination of bonds, bank loans, and other financial instruments.
Founded by the team behind Greenko Group Plc, a renewable energy firm, AM Intelligence is positioning itself as a key player in Asia’s AI computing landscape. The firm is also in discussions to secure about $300 million through advance payments from potential customers, or offtakers, as part of the funding strategy. However, the exact terms and structure of the deal are still being finalized, with talks at an early stage and subject to change.
A spokesperson for AM Intelligence declined to provide comments on the ongoing funding efforts, while Nvidia did not respond to requests for statements.
This planned capital raise highlights the complexity and scale of financing required for AI infrastructure development, especially in emerging markets like India. Companies are increasingly combining traditional bank loans with private capital and upfront customer commitments to secure the advanced processors necessary for cutting-edge AI applications.
The demand for such hardware and funding has contributed to a global surge in borrowing related to AI technology. Bloomberg data indicates that over $650 billion in debt has been issued worldwide in less than two years, driven largely by investments in AI capabilities and infrastructure.
In August, AM Intelligence announced an $8 billion initiative involving the acquisition of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips. This project aims to establish 1-gigawatt computing capacity at its Hyderabad facility. The center is designed to run trillion-parameter AI models and explore next-generation agentic AI applications, placing the company among Asia’s early adopters of this advanced computing platform.
The move comes amid rising interest in India’s data center industry. A report by KPMG published in July projects a $90 billion investment opportunity across the country’s data center ecosystem by fiscal year 2035. This forecast extends beyond just capacity expansion, encompassing infrastructure development and related service offerings.
As AI technologies continue to evolve, the demand for specialized hardware like Nvidia’s chips is accelerating. Firms like AM Intelligence are seeking substantial capital to build the infrastructure needed to support increasingly sophisticated AI workloads.
With the global AI market expanding rapidly, companies must navigate complex financing arrangements to stay competitive. The combination of bond issuances, bank loans, and customer prepayments illustrates the multifaceted approach necessary to fund these expensive and critical technology deployments.
AM Intelligence’s efforts reflect a broader trend of substantial investment in AI infrastructure across Asia and the world. As the sector grows, the ability to secure advanced chips and build large-scale computing facilities will be crucial for companies aiming to lead in AI research and application.
