On October 13, 2026, Apple unveiled its latest smart home device, the HomeView, designed to serve as a central hub for household management and AI-powered assistance. Featuring a 7-inch screen, the HomeView can be either mounted on a wall or placed on a tabletop, adapting to various living spaces. The device is engineered to accommodate multiple users by recognizing faces and tailoring the displayed information accordingly.

Priced starting at $299, the HomeView will be available for purchase beginning November 13. This announcement was part of Apple's event in New York City, the second product launch under the new leadership of CEO John Ternus, who assumed the role in September following Tim Cook's tenure.

Alongside the HomeView, Apple introduced refreshed hardware for its Apple TV and HomePod lines. The new Apple TV 4K model is priced at $299, reflecting an increase from the previous $199 price point. It includes a redesigned remote control equipped with a feature that enables users to locate it by emitting a sound. Additionally, the HomePod Mini has been updated with new color options and a slight price increase to $149 from $129.

While the iPhone remains Apple’s primary revenue driver, the company is putting more emphasis on its accessory lineup, particularly those that integrate Siri’s enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities introduced last month. The HomeView serves as a prominent example of this focus, showcasing Siri's ability to handle a wider range of queries and maintain ongoing conversations that can transfer seamlessly between the HomeView and users’ iPhones or iPads.

Apple’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak highlighted the HomeView’s multifunctionality, stating, "It recognizes your face to shift from a household screen to your own experience, fills the room with incredible sound, keeps you connected to the people who matter most with FaceTime, and makes it easy to control your smart home." The device integrates with core Apple apps such as Messages, Photos, Calendar, and Reminders, personalizing content for up to six different users through advanced Apple Intelligence.

Equipped with the Apple A18 chip, the HomeView also functions as a digital photo frame and supports FaceTime video calls. It acts as a smart home dashboard, allowing users to monitor camera feeds, adjust thermostats, and control smart locks from brands including LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Setting up new smart home devices is simplified, requiring just a single tap on an iPhone to connect.

Apple categorizes the HomeView alongside the Apple TV and HomePod products under its Wearables, Home, and Accessories segment, which generated $7.88 billion in revenue during the quarter ending in June 2026. This segment comprises wireless headphones like AirPods and the Apple Watch as well. The increasing emphasis on home integration reflects Apple's strategy to deepen customer investment in its ecosystem, reducing the likelihood of users switching to competitors’ platforms.

The timing of this product launch comes amid challenges faced by the consumer electronics industry, including rising component costs and decreased demand fueled by shortages in memory and storage supplies. Reports suggest that John Ternus is accelerating Apple’s product release cadence in response to these market conditions.

The price increase for the Apple TV 4K follows a similar adjustment earlier this year, justified by Apple as necessary due to unsustainable memory costs, according to statements from former CEO Tim Cook.

Overall, Apple’s introduction of the HomeView marks a significant step in expanding its smart home presence, combining hardware innovation with AI advancements to offer a more personalized and connected experience within the household environment.
